Professional Designation
The designation "Mid-South Economic Development Professional" provides official
recognition for individuals who demonstrate excellence in the profession,
complete the
required
curriculum,
and have a
minimum of three years economic development experience.
General Certification Requirements:
18 credit hours of instruction including:
- 3 credits in the Mid-South Basic Economic Development Course
(or another IEDC-accredited Basic Course)
- 2.5 credits in Planning Strategically
- 2 credits in Economic Development Finance/Real Estate
- 10.5 credits (minimum) in additional IEA electives (see Curriculum), including courses in any IEA Advanced Certificate program
Examination on eight subject areas, including business retention and expansion, strategic planning, real estate, finance, workforce development, community development, management, and marketing.
The Mid-South Economic Development Professional designation requires a minimum
of 10 credits taken in the curriculum of the IEA Center for Economic Development
Education
at UALR.
Transfer Credits:
A maximum of 8 transfer credits accepted toward Arkansas Certification include:
- EDI (5 credits) or CDI (3 credits)
- Undergraduate or graduate degree in economic development (5 credits)
- IEDC accredited courses (2 credits each) CID, CED or CEcD (2 credits)
